"An American citizen could not be a good
citizen who did not have a hope in
his heart." ~ Benjamin Harrison
Our 23rd U.S. President, Benjamin Harrison is perhaps best known
as a civic leader and Civil War veteran. But Harrison's letters
and friendships reveal that his successful public life resulted
from an inner drive for community giving combined with a profound
belief and practice in patriotism and citizenship. We see this same
drive in our army of museum volunteers who educate visitors about
the Harrison legacy, so intricately bound in Indiana and United
States history. Harrison never sought the spotlight for the sake
of fame, and he had a penchant for helping friends and family with
his hands, his heart, and hard-earned wealth. He never lost hope
in people or possibilities.
We hope you will share Harrison's passion for giving
and become a member, donor and/or a volunteer of the President Benjamin
Harrison Home museum. More information can be found in the links
to the left. Thank you for your interest!
